Wow... Shocked

Quite amazing, but that lets me admirative...Such a strong determination through the years, to say the least!
I don't find it silly at all nevertheless, she's just part of this minority of people who are not interested in sex at all, and can live their life in total satisfaction with themselves and the others. I think that these people, and this old lady particularly Razz, are strong-minded in a very rare way because it's difficult not to feel guilty or ridiculous when social pressure, when it comes about having a sexual life, is so oppressing. And Ms. Meadmore is a perfect exemple.
But I admit that an 100 year-old resolution is almost inhuman...

Well...hum... Yes, of course.
Siffle ...But they also really don't know what they're missing.

Well of course it doesn't mean that I share Ms. Meadmore's point of view! Razz
Strangely, sex is told to be one of the most effective means of increasing one's lifespan.
But the contrary seems to be also true.

So? What conclusion must we do?

For still virgin people > stay that way Semiange
For no-more innocent people (genre) > keep on practising! Yeah! Cool

It's the verb "draw" ("to draw a conclusion").

That's seems to be a fair deal...
...If the other men decide to stay virgin... Less competition for me. MrGreen

A had an idea...

Why not use this topic as a means to learn or share new vocabulary ? Idea

Today, I learned what the expression "break a leg" exactly meant.
I had already heard that expression before but I never checked to see what it really meant. Embarassed

It's an expression that people would usually say to someone who is about to go on stage and perform.
It's a very informal way of wishing good luck to somebody, a bit like when we say "Merde" to someone before an exam.

yeah, great idea !

If you ever go to liverpool, don't be confused if someone say you : Tsaar (actually the exact spelling remains a mystery).
It's widely used to say hello, goodbye, and sometime it means cheers or thanks.

That's how they pronounce it in Liverpool.
But this expression is used in many places around england, not only in Liverpool.
In Bradford for exemple, they'd pronounce it : "Taa"...Well, actually it almostsounds like a "Toe". But it does mean "Hello", "goodbye" (that's what I mostly heard it for) or "thank you".

The craziest thing about this is that with the amount of Evangelists, New-born, Amish and all the other christian integrists out there... It wouldn't be surprised if a huge part of the american population would actually take such an anthem as a perfectly valuable choice.

I initially didn't see things that way, but you're scarily righ Neutral Wouldn't be surprising at all, even realistic, considering that some schools made a giant step backwards by promoting the creationist theory in science classes, which mean they perfectly have the choice to convince children that every form of living is a result of God's work, and consequently denigrating theory of evolution...

Citation :
So Life of Brian opened exclusively at the Plaza, Lower Regent Street, on November 8, 1979 and, in spite of hymn-singing demonstrators outside, went on to break box-office records, raking in £40,000 in its first week, smashing the previous house record set by Jaws.

The film was backed by an ingenious advertising campaign in which each Python recruited either a relative or friend (Gilliam's mum, Michael Palin's dentist) to present their own radio spot.

By far the best was Cleese's 80-year-old mother, Muriel, reading an appeal to listeners, claiming that she is 102-years old and kept in a retirement home by her son, and that unless enough people see his new film and make him richer, he will throw her on to the streets where she will assuredly perish. The ad won a delighted Muriel an award for best radio entertainment commercial of 1979.

lol!
80 years old and still transgressing rules of good taste... A good sense of humour can surely last through time !

Today, due to my travel back home for a few days, I am AT LAST able to watch videos again!cheers

I took advantage of this to take a look at your last link, Grand pa...Usually I am not a big fan of "extremely cute/sappy kitty-puppy-babies-small animals" videos (but in real life, it's another story! MrGreen) but I must admit that this one is rather funny...Motherly instinct (Bitteulze correct me if I wrote it wrong Wink) concerning mom cats is wonderful by many regards...I love you

I'm not quit sure of this expression... I've never seen it before. Rolling Eyes
But I think that, even though litteral translation doesn't usely work, in this case, I would just simply put "maternal instinct"...and not "concerning" but "when it comes to" or event better :
Put it back in the active tense. It would give you something like this : "Mom cats's maternal instinct". I know that the "cats's" doesn't look so good but, nevertheless, I think it's better to use the active tense in this case.

And here is THE video of the moment... (well... Yesterday's moment to be more precise Siffle )

I love this speech, especially what he says beetween 28 : 05 and 32 : 00.
